WIZ-C - PIC C Compiler Simulator and IDE
This has Drag and Drop component selection. Point and Click pin connections and direct parameter selection by drop down lists, check boxes and validated data entry. It also supports In-Circuit Debugging and also can transfer to MPLAB. (professional version). They have a free demo version too.
There is a optional library set to considerably ease USB development. Included components support timers, serial interfaces, I2C, LCD, 7 Seg displays, keypads, switches, port controls, many bus interfaces including IIC and Dallas iButton.

The CREATE USB Interface
The Create USB Interface is an open source microcontroller board that can be programmed in C, BASIC, or Arduino languages. This latest version is called the CUI32Stem, which is designed to work ‘hand-in-hand’ with the GROVE prototyping system including a wide range of sensors and actuators.
The PIC is the heart of the board. It's a programmable microcontroller with 32Kbytes of flash program memory and 2kbytes of general purpose SRAM. It has 13 A/D inputs and 18 general purpose I/O ports. On the CUI board, one of the general purpose I/O pins is dedicated to the "program" button to enter bootloading mode. You can use the remaining ports for anything you wish.

Mechatronics Demonstration Kit with PIC
The demonstration kit takes a hands-on approach to learning about mechatronics. "This compact instrument is intended to be a digital laboratory tool for hardware and, in some cases, software debugging. It contains four instruments in one unit: logic probe, single channel logic state analyzer, frequency counter and serial code receiver"
Serial code receiver The serial code receiver receives 42 bytes and displays them in both HEX and ASCII. The baud rate is selectale in 8 steps from 1200 to 115200.
Logic state analyzer This is a one-channel logic state analyzer. It fetches 300 single bit samples in a selectable rate from 25ms to 1µS (40 Hz to 1 MHz in 16 steps).
Frequency counter The frequency counter displays the frequency with up to 8 digits on the LCD. The refresh rate is 500ms.
Logic probe The low and high logic levels are displayed by LEDs which are OFF if the probe tip is floating.

"I do remember the Intersil ICL7135 very clearly. This year 2011, almost 29 Years, the classic integrating type analog to digital converter is still interested. With a cheap price and easy interfacing, I think I will design a cheap digital volt meter with microcontroller to provide serial interface similar to the Fluke45. Two channels is good for scientific experiment."
